Munich Automobiles showcases the 1 Series ///M-Coupé
Munich Auto held the unveiling of the 1 ///M-Coupe on our local shores and i had the priviledge to sneak a peak. It looks really great in the flesh, very muscular, very stout and squat with great STANCE! Many have asked bout this, the price. SGD$220,000 without COE. Pre-orders for one of only 20 vehicles to be available in Singapore at an exclusive preview on 22-23-24 January 2011.
The 1 M will be at Munich Auto for this weekend, so be sure to head down to have a look. Time to go RS3 stomping! Here's the Press Release »
Even under covers, the extended wheelarches give it a menacing presence.
It's abit strange to see a plaque with the words "Powered by BMW M" in place of the traditional badges though.
1 ///M will only come with a stick shift! The 'preferred' shift some might say.
Couple of friendly people
Made new friends. :)
Recent developments: New tyres for the E34
Happy New Year everyone! With the E34(christened the Big Bad Wolf) in the family, these past couple of weeks have been spent sorting some small stuff out. Today, a brand new set of tyres from Hankook. If you are looking for new tyres, they are currently having a 30%-off sale which is pretty cool. Initially i was contemplating just changing out the fronts but the costs of the previous Pirelli Pzeros were really steep after checking the condition of the rears(circa yr2004 :P ), i figured it would be more worthwhile to get new rubber all round. Here's a picture of the old Pirellis:
Small hiccup upon mounting the wheels, the rims are facing the wrong direction! So another trip back to the shop to get them rectified. Staff were nice and friendly though.
The Hankook V12s have been pretty good so far, it rained on the way home and the '34 was planted, stable and tracked straight whilst driving through puddles and wet surfaces.

Paris 2010 : BMW X3 is new yet familiar
While the sheetmetal stays largely the same, the lineup receives new engines and an eight-speed automatic gearbox that’s set to spread like kudzu throughout the automaker’s offerings. The X3 also becomes the first model in BMW’s growing X franchise to adopt electric power steering (the automaker’s controversial variable sports steering rack is optional), as well as optional Damper Control and Dynamic Drive Control (as seen on its range of sedans and sports cars).
In addition to the new sheetmetal, BMW promises added rear seat room, addressing one of the vehicle’s key shortcomings for the North American market.
Power will come from BMW’s Twinpower Turbo (Bimmerese for twin-scroll turbo) inline six-cylinder engine that gives the XDrive35i model 306 brake horsepower at 5,800 rpm with max torque of 295 pound-feet of torque at just 1,300 rpm. That’s good enough for a 0-62 mph time of just 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 152 mph, though it’s not clear if that figure will be governed when it reaches us Yanks. An entry-level xDrive28i model will also receive I-6 power, with 240 hp and 230 pound-feet of torque. Naturally, diesel mills will also be available in other areas of the globe, but as of yet, BMW officials haven’t committed to bringing an oil burner to the States. The gas model, however, should be in showrooms before year’s end.

2012 BMW 1 Series M Coupe gets early reveal
Now, BMW has released video of the production-ready 1M with all of its swirly paper removed. Its bulgy, brash front end and wider stance certainly look the part of a serious baby brother to the M3, and while official numbers have yet to be confirmed, we’re indeed looking forward to flogging all 340-ish horsepower via a standard six-speed manual transmission.
